Why bother?

So why is so much time and effort given to referencing you could be asking? The answer to that ranges from the seemingly minor to a bit more serious.

Firstly, referencing correctly and consistently is often a specified marking criteria for your assignments so if you don't get it right then you will get lower marks. At the 'bit more serious end' of reasons to pay it attention is the issue of Academic Integrity and misconduct which impacts your future career and job prospects.

Add in the moral, ethical and legal issues then you've got a few reasons to choose from as to why learning about referencing is worth the bother!
